All I have so far are the comments he made on the blog. This is the first time I have heard him talk about it. He kind of has the personality that could pull it off as he is very intelligent and eloquent. The average under-educated elder would have been stumped, especially when you consider most elders have never met a frontal assault from the sheep.

Crisis of Conscience blogpost
by Lunatic Faith inme and pyramid finally finished crisis of conscience.
it took us awhile as we were reading it aloud together so we could stop and discuss interesting features along the way--kind of like what the wts recommends we do with the bible (ironic, we never did it with the bible).
anyway, i wrote a blog on the book and have been having an interesting discussion with an old jw friend of mine.

Facebook, JW's, and paranoia
by Lunatic Faith inso i am still a member of the fb jw page since they put me in there themselves.
i haven't been on there for a week because i find the average post innane or downright paranoid.
today i got on there and got an admins explanation for why so many were randomly thrust into this closed group.

Oh God yes. I was happy when I finally decided to unfriend the sickeningly sweet comments like "Great meeting then service with friends! Now a barbeque!! Jehovah's organization is so awesome!" Like, like, like, etc.

Me and PYRAMID finally finished Crisis of Conscience. He lives in New Mexico currently. His wife used to be a regular pioneer and his dad is an elder. I met him through his sister who I met at pioneer school. I would copy and paste it but it is kind of long. Here is a link:

I found the info he presented interesting. It kind of took away my fear of judicial commmittees and the inevitable phone calls/visits that may be in my future...especially since I can't seem to keep my mouth shut.

Yeah, Mad. I sent you and (Your wife?) friend requests a few weeks ago. Your picture is of the Watchtower building and your wifes is of the borg watchtower (which by the way is the first time I had ever seen that. Very cool!). I don't think you guys responded though because I don't see you in my friends list.

Today I got on there and got an admins explanation for why so many were randomly thrust into this closed group. Then the comments start bringing up all these names of individuals that should be removed from their hallowed association. I'm the second to the last, challenging the apostate label. Just yesterday I was talking to a guy I work with. He is an acupuncturist and treats a lot of the JW's. He had no clue about their disfellowshipping stand and yet they are always witnessing to him. He should read this thread...
Enrique CamachoOkay, everyone. Just to let you know, I am one of the admins of this group. I am in good standing and just want to let you know what happened. Damien and I were warned by Facebook that this group was to be "archived". The way this group looks now is the way Facebook as decided all groups should be upgraded too. As are result, we had no choice but to upgrade so it wouldn't be put into the back closet of Facebook and no new members could join or find it.

As a result, it seems this new applications seems to forcibly join people that: never meant to join the group, joined this group years ago but forgot about it and suddenly upgrading has put this page back into their lives, or were just associated with JW in their profile and were lumped in here.
To those of you who forgot about this group, welcome back. To those of you who were just lumped in here, welcome. I'm the most active of admins for this group so if you have any questions or concernes please feel free to ask.
Sincerely,
Enrique Camacho- 8 people like this.

- Annie Love wow. if in a congregation we are not allowed to talk to those who are disfellowshiped , then by no means should we do it here!!! we must block those apostates! Monday at 11:10am · Like · 2 people

- Charis Branson Since when did disfellowshipped start automatically implying one is an apostate? I think that word gets used way more than it should. 7 hours ago · Like
- Annie Love the difference is there, but either way we can't talk to any of them. as a matter of fact, the apostates are worse because they're trying to pull the sheep away from the congregation. the disfellowshipped might come back. but the consequences are still the same. 6 hours ago · Like

Were you ever the subject of a ''Local needs'' talk???
by karter inapperantly there was one in my old congro as my neice (baptized ,but inactive) is marring her livein boy freind.. .
anyone going to the weeding wil be publicly reproved..

Wow. I don't see how they can do that. Either somebody imagines they have too much power, or it's an empty threat. There is no biblical precedent for that and I would definitely challenge it.
Yes, I have been the subject of a local needs talk more than once. When I was 19, my mother was in the hospital dying. I didn't want her to die alone so I lived in that hospital for a week--eating and sleeping and holding her hand. Some of my friends from the hall would come down so I wasn't alone all the time and we would play cards and visit in moms room. The doctors said it really benefitted her because even tho she was in a coma she could hear us in her room. One day, after only a little sleep for days on end, my brother and friend and I got into an ice fight in the cafeteria. Nobody but us were in there and we threw a little ice and then sobered up and went back to mom's room. Less than a week after Mom had died and we had the funeral there was a local needs about apropriate conduct in the hospital when visiting family. They even mentioned a group of young people having an ice fight and bringing reproach upon Jehovah. Everybody knew it was me and my family. I felt like they had publicly kicked us when we were down. I don't know why I didn't leave that f@#*ing organization then.
The other time, I was 21 and gotten heavily involved with a young brother in the hall. We were both publicly reproved. The week after our announcement they had a local needs that was so strong, everyone to this day assumes we had sex...which we didn't. Though now I wish we had so I wouldn't have wasted the next 20 years in that religion.

Jehovah's witness meetings are NOT BORING......
by punkofnice in...i was told but they usually were as i look back.. as a lad i'd sit and look to see who the lights would fall on.
i'd get an almond and see how long i could suck it before i chewed at it.
i'd imagine playing rock'n'roll on the congregation's piano.. how did you get through the meetings when you were bored?.

Yeah I would count too, skeeter. The number of people wearing a certain color, the number of kids, the number of lights and ceiling tiles. If I sat toward the back I could watch various dramas unfold around me: public displays of affection, kids getting smacked, who is flirting with who, etc.
When I was about 10 I tried bringing a fiction book and hiding it inside my big bible. I thought I had it all figured out and sat in back so no one behind could see what I was reading. I neglected to notice the attendant standing behind me. I got caught the first time I tried it! So I never did it again.
I always liked to draw, too, if I pretended to take notes I could doodle freely.

What would the world be like if everybody was a Jehovah Witnesses
by TotallyADD inon the news the other day they showed a young man after graduating from high school went out and got drunk and had a bad car accident.
he was paralyze from the waist down.
instead of going into deep depression of what he did to himself he started his life over and went to college and was involved in inventing a exoskeleton for disable people.
-
Lunatic Faith
I'm thinking he would have been criticized and put down for driving drunk in the first place. If he was disfellowshipped for the reproach he brought on the organization he would have been severely depressed and alienated. His family would have limited their association instead of encouraging him to overcome his handicap and he probably would have committed suicide.
(If that sounds a little too dire, sorry. I'm having a bad day)

Lack of take up of Advance Directive forms
by billyboy inas some of you know, i am an elder in a southern england congregation.
the britain branch ( policy letter dec 8th 2007) stopped all hlc brothers giving talks at other congregations and as a result the take-up of the advance directive form (ad) has dropped dramatically.
jws are presenting themselves at hospitals without the form and nhs staff are phoning the hlc to ask that an elder visits to help them compose it while in hospital.. the uk branch is asking hlc members to meet up with bodies of elders so that we can "educate the brothers" (their expression) - we had our meeting a few weeks ago with a couple of the hlc brothers.

For years, every January, they would have a part on the service meeting where they would discuss the stand against blood then hand out the new cards. The book study overseer would insure each and every person in his group had a signed card. And while they had that arrangement, I always carried my card. Some years ago, some time in the last decade, they did away with that arrangement. People who really wanted a card had to fill out an advanced directive which was quite lengthy.
Personally, once they stopped handing them out at meetings it lost its importance to me. If they relied upon the rank and file to be motivated enough to take care of that decision, I knew the vast majority were not going to do it. I didn't. I used to worry about getting in an accident or something and being faced with that decision without an advanced directive. I am glad I don't have to worry about that any more.
I was doing chair massage for the Red Cross last week and have decided to give blood. I think it's the right thing to do.

Facebook-Jehovah's Witnesses
by Lunatic Faith inso, i have been mysteriously added to a facebook page for jw's.
i didn't join and it is supposedly a closed group.
i went to their page and found a dozen others who were wondering how they became a part of a group they never joined.
